Community Associations
Community Associations are essential to human services work because they connect individuals to the natural supports, relationships, and opportunities that make real community life possible. They help reduce isolation, strengthen inclusion, and create pathways for people to participate as valued citizens rather than just service recipients. For people supported through organizations like ONLS, strong community associations mean access to friendships, employment, cultural activities, and advocacy networks that improve quality of life and long-term wellbeing while also making supports more sustainable and person-centered. The community associations listed below benefit the work you do as well as the persons we support. If you have any connection(s) you wish to bring forward for inclusion please let us know. Enter your idea into the ONLS Blue Box.

Nova Scotia Community Living Organizations (NSCLO)
| Nova Scotia Community Living Organizations (NSCLO) Show/Hide NSCLO is a coalition of organizations in Nova Scotia who provide support to people with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health support needs. NSCLO (formerly known as NSRAA) was founded by in 1993 by a group of organizations and advocates who believe that everyone belongs in the community. NSCLO is proud to be assisting in the Human Rights Remedy work to ensure that the findings of systemic discrimination against people with disabilities in this province are rectified, and that everyone has the ability to live in the communities of their choice, get the supports they need, and have the same opportunities and freedoms afforded to all Nova Scotians. NSCLO’s fundamental values of Integrity, Person Centered Supports, Respect, Inclusion, Excellence, and Support for Members guides us in our mission to strengthen the ability of member organizations to pursue excellence in community-based services.
